Hugs From Oregon
About Don and Carol Todd Hugs From Oregon
Don has been living on the Oregon Coast for the past 20 years (a California transplant) originally from Iowa. The natural beauty of the Oregon Coast provides Don with continual inspiration and subject matter. Here he enjoys the opportunity to pursue his photographic interests in landscape, seascape, macro, abstract, and the Coastal Range. Don loves to travel with his wife Carol (also a talented photographer) to out-of-the-way and remote locations where tourists seldom travel. Don has been actively involved in photography for many years. Mostly self-taught he has taken instruction under Tony Mason and Wood Sabold at Southwestern Oregon Community College. He uses a range of 35mm SLR/DSLR Pentax cameras to capture his images. As a professional picture framer Don was able to incorporate his photographic interests, love of art, and matting and framing talents into one venue. Carol has been seriously involved in photography since moving to Oregon in 1993. According to Carol,'living in one of the most beautiful places on earth provides continuing inspiration for my photography.' Carol started out working in oil paints. While on vacation in Oregon, Don loaned her his Pentax MX so she could photograph scenes she would later want to paint. She was hooked on photography from that day forward. Her favorite subjects are closes-ups of nature, landscapes, and street scenes that border on the bizarre. She is also enjoying the opportunity to create photo based art using Adobe PhotoShop as well as other creative software. Don and Carol are actively involved in the Oregon Coast Photographers' Assn (oregoncoastphotoclub.org) and have won numerous awards in local and state competitions. Recently retired they are now taking the time to indulge in their many interests including photography and spending time with family.
